Peek - a - Boo

Today we played Peek-A-Boo and he looked up at me with these big blue eyes. He has eyes just like his daddy.

"Hey Mom, stop putting that burp rag on me or I'll pinch you!"
"If only I could get control of my hands."

New Shoes

Specialty Tile sent us a beautiful basket for Carter. In it were these cute "little" shoes for after his bath, it looks like he has duck feet! Erin and I laughed so hard we almost fell over, which explains why Carter looks like he's yelling at Erin to stop laughing. We will put him in his matching robe tonight after his FIRST bath. His umbilical cord finally fell off today so we get to do a real bath time! No more sponge baths!

Grammy Klock and Auntie Erin leave . . .

It was fabulous having my sister and Mom here for the last week. Mom was Superwoman, cleaning cooking and changing an occasional diaper. Erin changed diapers too (there are plenty to go around) and held Carter whenever she got the chance. It was nice just having someone in the house. . . But they left today and Carter and I cried like babies. He has an excuse . . . he is a baby. I, on the otherhand, just cry for the fun of it these days. Hallmark commercials, songs on the radio, emails, or just watching Carter's newest movements, you name it, I cry.

New Friends!

As you can tell he's a real ladies man already. We meet with Mikayla and Maddy on Wednesday night and he loved being held by them! Can't blame him, they are the cutest girls he's ever seen.

My First Doctor Visit

"My 1 week birthday started out like any other normal day. Eat, sleep, eat sleep, but then . . .

Mommy dressed me in this outfit Auntie Erin gave me. My hat kept falling to the side and I looked like a little thug. We went to see Daddy at work and all his friends loved me, so I heard, I slept the whole time"

"Just when I thought it was over, they packed me up again and took me to the Dr! Auntie Erin kept me asleep in the waiting room."

"This is my Doctor. She checked me all out, said I was perfect. Mommy and Daddy knew that already. No shots today so I REALLY liked her."

"Here I try to pretend like I'm sleeping so Ms. Doc thinks I sleep through the night..."

"The scale shows I only lost one ounce. Must be eating well. I'll keep up the every hour schedule!"

"All that poking and proding sure tired me out, can we go home now mommy?"

And so home we went.

Guess the Hour Game

This is a new game we will be playing on our website called "Guess the Hour Game!"
Leave your guess in the comments link for this post, you get one guess for each picture set.
The first game consists of a simple two picture set, featuring Carter and Daddy.
The winner gets a free night of babysitting our adorable little boy between the hours of 10pm and 6am! Don't miss out on this fabulous opportunity!

Picture set #1

Notice Carter is sleeping soundly, Jeff is wide awake!
(Does the dark background indicate night time or is it a photo trick?)

Picture set #2

Note that Carter is wide awake, Daddy is a mess.
(Does the daylight showing on Jeff's face indicate daylight or another photo trick?)

Good luck with your guessing! Next week we play the "What day is it again?" game!

Stud

Carter shows how old he is in days,
or is he already learning gangsta speak?

Carter models his Ralph Lauren shoes from Auntie Erin.

Family traits

Renee's nose and Jeff's chin. What a cutie!
"But whose lips are these?" Carter wants to know...
The sense of humor fits in the family, but where are those big feet from?
"Eww mommy, no more kisses. Will this be on the website?"

First 24 hours...

We hope to see lots of this!

Carter gets a tour of the hospital halls from dad on his way to the nursery...Practice paid off... It ain't Snoopy (see below) but we made it through.

Stay tuned, baby on the way!

Is 3am an actual time? I thought time stopped at midnight and started at 6am. We are about to discover what happens in those little known hours, called mornite. (Is it morning, or night?)
Of course Sunrise Hospital is only a few streets down from Las Vegas Blvd, so I'm certain we won't be alone.
I'm also fairly certain that we will not longer be strangers to 3am, and will probably spend alot of time in the mornite hours.

We will try to keep everyone as up to date as possible on the arrival of Cubby, and of course will post baby's first photos as soon as possible. Check back Thursday evening as I will try get a little info up for everyone. We are very anxious to meet our lil guy, thanks for all the thoughts and good wishes!

another update, but no change....

I got called in early for my Dr. appt today. He said I have made slight progress since Friday but we will probably end up needing to be induced. I was originally scheduled for Wednesday at 8:00pm. My Dr. goes on call at the hospital at 7:00am the following morning. He thought if they started the Pitocin at 8:00pm then he would be there in time for the birth 12 hours later. However, he now thinks I will progress quicker so he doesn't want me to go to the hospital until 3:30am on Thursday so that he will be there when Cubby makes his entrance. I understand the thought process but that just added 7.5 hours to my countdown. He said if we start the Pitocin at 3:30am Thursday we should meet Cubby no later than between 12-3 that afternoon. . . . but he also was the one who predicted we'd have a baby by Monday. So we will wait and see . . .

. . . the countdown continues.

We had our appointment at the hospital yesterday for fetal assessment. First, they hooked me up to a machine that monitors the baby's heartbeat and my contractions. It shows his oxygen levels when he moves, whether they increase or decrease tells the Dr. if Cubby is healthy. He wasn't very active but his heart rate was great and the chart showed I am having contractions every 3 minutes, I don't feel them and they only last about 15 seconds so nothing to be admitted for. Dr. said when the contractions last a bit longer I am pretty much ready to go, I shouldn't be in labor for too long. (Hope she's right.)
Then they did an ultrasound which was great since we haven't had one since week 22. He is all scrunched up, running out of room. The Dr. has to get him to move a lot so she kept buzzing at him with this little tool and when she scanned over his face he was frowning at us like " leave me alone." She said he looks like Jeff. He has Jeff's chin, my nose and a very cute scowl. He also has very cute chubby cheeks. All is very healthy in there she said, he could stay in for another 2 weeks and be perfectly fine. At that moment I think she realized where Cubby got his scowl. I think I shot daggers at her until I remembered they will induce me tomorrow night. I am lucky, if this had been 20 years ago they probably would've just let me be 3 weeks overdue.
Today's schedule:
Sleep
Sleep
Rest
Rest
Go to Dr. at 3:30 for another check.
Come home, rest, sleep, repeat.
