A Trip to the Doc

Monday, Carter went to the doctor for his 1 month well check (a little late since we were on vacation) He gained 1 lb and 1 ounce. He now weighs 10 lbs and 8 ounces. He is 23.5 inches long. He is in the 75% for weight and the 90% for height. Looks like he will be a tall boy. The Doc said he looks very healthy. Next appointment he has to get his shots! He won't be as happy after that visit I am sure.

MILESTONES
The day he turned 5 weeks old we got a ton of smiles. Since then he smiles quite a bit and coos when talked too. He loves the sound of voices and music. He is intrigued by Auntie Kari playing the piano. Jeff says he turned over the other day but I won't believe it until I see it. I am however being very careful not to take my eyes off of him while he's on the changing table and our bed just in case.

Miss Katie K!

I also got to meet my Auntie Katie. She is Mommy's best friend from highschool. I don't know what high school will be like yet but I sure hope I make a friends like her.

Auntie Erin

I got to spend lots of time with my Auntie Erin. She gets to start a new job on Wednesday being a nanny for a little girl that is 10 days younger than me . . .
Auntie Erin, I better stay your favorite and you better introduce me to that girl sometime!

Different Day, Different Beach

On Thursday we went to Mommy and Daddy's old date spot. There is a lighthouse and we watched the ferry boats come and go. It was a lot colder than Las Vegas so I was all bundled up in my carrier.

A nice couple followed us onto the beach just to get a peek at me. Sure is tough being cute. Papparazzi comes in all ages I guess.
Just couldn't resist another snooze.
Nice view but I could care less, I am content just snuggled up to Mommy.

Ocean View!

This was sure a change from the desert I was born in... the ocean! We saw seals and otters and herons and crabs. (Mommy and Daddy even ate the crabs for a snack, eww, I'll stick to milkshakes for now!) We even heard a turkey gobbling in the woods by the beach, but it was scared of me and wouldn't come out to play.

This was the same beach Mommy and Daddy got engaged on over 6 years ago, waaaaay before I was born!
Here we are with our good friends Dan and Michelle, Auntie Erin and her boyfriend Matt.
Me and Daddy just hangin out. Check out the view!

My best smile for the camera!

Here are the ladies in my life, Grandma, Mommy and Auntie Erin!

Here's my Great Uncle Dick, he owns the piece of property on the water. He's fixed it up so nice and we have so much fun there!

Here I am with Dick and Cathy at the property, behind them is the crab feasting table, meanwhile I do my best crab imitation. Time to head for home I guess!

Uncle Steve feeds me my bottle, he did great. I sure know how to train em all quick! Must be my handsome features, or is it the puppy dog eyes?

Whew, what a long day. Nothing better than drifting off to sleep on Daddy's tummy.

Hello Grandpa!

I had heard so much about my Grandpa Klock and how great he was, (after all I got my middle name from him!) and finally I got to snuggle in and have a lil nap on his favorite chair. How lucky am I?

After a good nap, Grandpa helped me get in shape with some leg presses and a couple stomach crunches. Thanks Gramps, I'm gonna be buff just like you some day!

I sure do love my Grandpa!

Cubby gets his wings!

Last Saturday I flew to Seattle to see Grandma and Grandpa. We sat in the engine room (see engine outside window) which kept Mommy and Daddy awake, but it was music to my ears. I slept like a baby the whole time! More pictures to follow from my first big trip!

Love the shoes!

Auntie Erin bought these baseball slippers for Carter, I didn't realize he has already grown out of them. His toes were crunched in the end so I had to get just one picture before they go in the growing box labeled "too small for Carter."

4 weeks old . . .

Today, I turned 4 weeks old. Daddy and Mommy can't believe how much I have grown. I am much more alert and try to talk to Daddy and Mommy but it mostly comes out as a whine or cry. Mommy can't wait till I smile and laugh. I love my swing and could spend hours in it if Mommy would let me.

Sunday, before meeting we took a family photo. We just had to show off Carter's cute shoes from Uncle Kev and Auntie Jess. They are 3-6 month shoes but he already fits in them!

Daddy and Cubby get a nap after morning meeting. Looks cozy.He was making the funniest faces as we were getting ready to go out again. Smiling and looking around. I don't know if it was gas or he was just happy to be going somewhere.
Here's a better shot of the shoes and those legs that are getting chubbier by the day.

Hey, I'm 3 weeks old!

We can't believe it's been 3 weeks already since Carter was born.
Grandma Shepherd and I took him to the Dr. and he is now 9 pounds 7 ounces! I was a bit worried when at his 2 week appointment he had only gained 2 ounces. He has been spitting up and a bit fussy at mealtime. But I was quite relieved when he gained 9 ounces in 1 week and the Doc said he looks very healthy!
(The Doc says he should gain about 1 ounce per day.)
He is becoming more active by the day. He loves his bouncy chair and tries to kick and punch to make it move faster.

He has started to stare at things for a few seconds.
When he hears our voice he will turn to look at us.

Still likes to sleep with his arms up like he's flexing. This is how you can tell if he's really asleep. We finished the day with a nice bath and another gang sign with his hands.

Hard Day at the Pool.

Sunday, we spent some time at the pool with Mike, Amanda, Dane, Kevin and Jessica. It was a warm night so we stripped Carter down to his diaper.
He loved just sleeping in daddy's arms.
Then Daddy got too warm so Carter just sprawled out on a towel.
Such a hard life.

The Best Feeling in the World

Mommy caught some ZZZZ's with her little bundle. I can't believe he is 2 weeks old already!Time is sure flying. He's so peaceful when he sleeps and a pretty happy baby. Nap time with him is the best feeling . . .

On that note, a horrible feeling. . . He went to see Dr. Larsen and had his circumcision today. Ouch. Jeff and I sat in the waiting room and could hear him screaming. It was painful for all 3 of us. I cried, Jeff cringed.
Carter is sleeping soundly now though. He fell asleep in the car on the way home, I left him in his car seat, didn't have the heart to move him once he was comfortable. :( Poor guy.

Angel or Pooping Machine?

Daddy thinks Carter is an angel, just look at him gaze at Carter.
However Mommy discovered today, when Daddy is gone to work, Carter's wild side comes out and he thinks it's fun to pee on Mommy. Not just 1 time but 2 times and all over the clean sheets too. Then as if that wasn't enough he had to poop on Mommy too! Not just a little, Mommy had to change her clothes, Carter's clothes and the sheets again. And now he's back to his angel self, sleeping the day away in his swing. . . and I have laundry to do.

My First Bath

Well, that icky umbilical cord finally came off so we got to put Carter in the bath tub. He enjoyed it after Daddy got the water nice and toasty for him.

He kept trying to put his soapy hands in his mouth so I gave him a pacifier instead.
This picture was actually right before the bath, I have been swaddling him like a burrito for naps and he seems to sleep much better.
Daddy holds Carter while Mommy sets up for bath time. Note to self: Need more towels next time. The bathroom looked like a war zone after we were done, but hey we're getting the hang of it.

Sleepy Time

"I can sleep pretty much anywhere" . . .

" In my bassinet ". . .

"In my swing" . . .
" In Auntie Erin's arms ". . .

"Next to Mommy on the couch" . . .

"Yep, I sleep pretty much anywhere . . . except in my bassinet from 11:00pm to 6:00 am."
