Our Lil' Monkey

Friday night we went grocery shopping. Apparently the bananas looked quite appealing. Carter got into just this bag and opened 3 out of 6 of the bananas all by himself. It only took a matter of seconds for him to start chomping down on them.
He was very pleased with himself for snagging his favorite treat.
Working on getting #4 open after he took a bite out of the first 3.

Another Weekend gone by . . .

LAST weekend was half good . . . Saturday we got out in the yard for a while, played with bubbles, water, shovels and rakes. Then Jeff and I got all fancied up for the Michael Buble concert at MGM. We went to dinner with some friends prior to the concert. (Restaurant name withheld purposely.) We got home about midnight Saturday and that's when the weekend took a turn for the worst. . .
FOOD POISONING - Not fun. Started with poor Jeffy who up till this point in our marriage had never been sick like this. It was awful. So I took to taking care of him, thinking it was the flu. That is, until a whole 2 hours later I was sick as well. So much for sharing our dinner at the restaurant. Never again. It took all Sunday and Monday to recover. Thankfully Grandma and Grandpa Shepherd were able to rescue Carter until we could determine it was food poisoning not just the stomach flu and we got some recovery time in.
THIS weekend was much better, Jeff worked half Saturday and Carter and I played. We all went to Green Valley Ranch with Mike, Amanda and Dane Saturday night and then came home for a late night swim. Sorry no pictures of any of that fun. Here are a couple pictures of Sunday morning before meeting. Our happy little Carter, still not walking, smiles for the camera man.

Renee at 29 weeks.
Some of you remember we called Carter "Cubby" before he was born.
We haven't been able to come up with a cute name for this baby.
There was a suggestion we came across, when Cathy referred to him as
"BOB" - Baby On Board - in a recent email to my parents.
But "BOB" just doesn't seem right. Maybe
BIRC - Baby in Rib Cage. or
BISOMB - Baby is Sitting on My Bladder" - or BAMME - "Baby Always Makes Me Eat"
It of course doesn't have to stand for anything, "Cubby" sure didn't.
Any suggestions would be gladly received.

Trip to Seattle

Carter and I took a trip to Seattle this last week for the holiday and some family time. We had a great week. Entertained Carter the whole time. From Samish Island to the Zoo, feeding ducks and just hanging out, we were busy!
Grampy Time
Upon arriving Carter quickly took to his grandpa, doing what boys do . . .
. . . wrestling . . .
. . . snuggling . . .
. . . playing in the yard . . .

Grammy Time
Of course he took to Grammy too, she had the food . . .
. . . and gave good baths . . .
. . . and helped Carter with his walking.

4th of July at Samish Island
It is a family tradition to spend the 4th of July at Samish Island. We joined Dick and Cathy and the gang in time for the annual parade. We walked along the beach waiting for the parade to start.

Playing with drift wood before the parade.
There was a cute pony Carter just had to meet.

The Parade

Dick's truck all decked out for the parade, Hawaiian style.

Carter even wore his luau shirt for the event.

On the float. Carter loved to look at all the people waving at him.
He clapped at them as we drove by.

Walking Down to the Water

Erin and I posing. (27 weeks pregnant)
Enjoying the ride down the trail

Down by the Water
Carter met a little crab, he wasn't quite sure at first . . .
But they became quick friends.

Digging for Clams
Grampy found some clams and Carter made sure he didn't miss any.
Our family, minus one very important husband.

Tractor Ride
Carter got his first tractor ride. Dick used to give Erin and I tractor rides when we were very young too. Carter is starting the tradition a bit earlier in life and loving it.
He wasn't sure at first about the loud noise and bumpy ride so he bear hugged Dick.
But soon he was so comfortable he actually FELL ASLEEP!

As soon as the tractor was shut off Carter woke up but stayed snuggled up to Dick.

The Woodland Park Zoo

After a busy 4th of July, Bill, Erin, Carter and I headed to the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle on Thursday.
Carter was quite amused by the Elephants, Giraffes, Otters, and Bears

Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh my!!!
The Bears were playing in the water which offered perfect viewing for Carter.
Then off to pet the goats.
